...according to the September issue of Wired magazine. That news was rather surprising to me given the amount of time we all spend on the internet. And that is the point the author, Chris Anderson, is making - while we spend tons of time on the internet, we are spending less time accessing the World Wide Web. So what is the difference and why should you care? Let’s start with a review of the difference.

We had the pleasure of sampling some unique Vosges Chocolates. Though I tried a few flavors, bacon being one of them, my preference was the Black Pearl Bar made with wasabi, ginger and black sesame seeds. It was intriguing to taste all those flavors. I did a little research on high end chocolate and came across The Mast Brothers, located near the Brooklyn Channel in New York.

Stevens 470 attended the annual Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce Pancake Breakfast on July 8. The new setting on the lawn of the South Middle School was the perfect spot, with plenty of room and shady trees on the lawn. The rain and heat held off for the morning as well, making it a very enjoyable event. The delicious, fluffy pancakes were the perfect way to begin the day!

It’s that time of year again, when the flowers are in full bloom and almost every day the mornings bring warm weather and sunshine. Our garden is flourishing with the beginnings of vegetables sprouting and the blossoms of daylillies. The aroma when you step outside our studio is delightful. The six raised beds consist of cherry and plum tomatoes, jalapeno and sweet peppers, lettuce, onions, pumpkins, squash, zucchini and fresh herbs.

This is a great video about Hatch Show Print, one of America's oldest letter press printing shops who's motto is "preservation through production". Every print they make is created by hand. They even use a rotary phone to call their customers to let them know the job is ready. Hatch Show Print keeps history alive by using the tools of the past. What I really find interesting is that there are so many retro ads and designs today in the market place. Most of them are now made digitally with new technology. Hatch Show Print does it the same way it was done over 100 years ago.

Friday I returned home from the studio to see a new Netflix DVD in my mailbox. The film, Objectified, by Gary Hustwit, is a feature-length documentary about our relationship with manufactured things. Through interviews with a robust list of today's designers, the film explores how objects become an extension of who we are as a people and individuals by looking at what we surround ourselves with. The documentary also takes a look at what objects will become in the future. An example that really stood out was one of digital cameras. Today's digital cameras are still shaped like film cameras, but do they really need to be?

This past Wednesday, we were given the opportunity to host this month's Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce WestNet event from 5pm-7pm. With a crowd of over 40 people, our studio was filled with the hum of good conversation and many new faces. A beautiful display of delicious appetizers was provided by the School Street Bistro and chocolate covered strawberries were provided by The Tavern Restaurant, both here in Westfield. Guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a beer tasting from Opa Opa, a local restaurant and brewery located in Southampton. Many of our guests were able to go home with a raffle prize provided by the Chamber.
