Objectified, a film by Gary Hustwit

Friday I returned home from the studio to see a new Netflix DVD in my mailbox. The film, Objectified, by Gary Hustwit, is a feature-length documentary about our relationship with manufactured things. Through interviews with a robust list of today's designers, the film explores how objects become an extension of who we are as a people and individuals by looking at what we surround ourselves with. The documentary also takes a look at what objects will become in the future. An example that really stood out was one of digital cameras. Today's digital cameras are still shaped like film cameras, but do they really need to be?
